Whooping cough cases increase

Extended Hours

With effect from Tuesday 5^th May 2009 we will be offering two late evening sessions of appointments per week.

We hope that these will benefit our patients who find it difficult to visit us during the course of the normal working day.

The late evening sessions will usually be on Monday and Tuesday evenings commencing at 6.30 pm.

If you would particularly like one of these appointment slots please make our receptionists aware of this.

When We Are Closed

out_of_hours NHS Direct can be a useful source of information once the surgery has closed. Their contact number is 0845 46 47. Alternatively you can log onto their website at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk

If you require a doctor when the surgery is closed, please ring 223 5226. Most of the problems are then dealt with by Go to Doc Out-of-Hours Services. The unit is staffed with nurses and a GP and is based close to the accident and emergency department at Manchester Royal Infirmary. If you need to see a doctor you will be expected to travel to the clinic.

NHS Walk-In Centre

Your nearest NHS walk in centre is based in the Primary Care Emergency Centre which is situated within the Accident & Emergency Department at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The centre is staffed by experienced NHS nurses and is open from 10.00am - 6.00pm Monday - Friday and provides healthcare advice, information and treatment for the following:

Coughs, colds and flu like symptoms
Minor cuts and wounds
Skin complaints
Men's/women's health problems
Emergency contraception
Advice on staying healthy

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
